The Somali margin of Africa is a rifted margin, that formed as a result of continental breakup (with Madagascar) in the Jurassic. The margin stratigraphy is a record of uplift and subsidence of eastern Africa. We are completing a project that uses this stratigraphy to reconstruct eastern Africa geodynamics.
